Longhouse Artist Action Research commission.
Breathe were selected for the Longhouse programme - encouraging the professional development journey of artists by supporting a dedicated period of research. Focusing on the universal themes of People, Identity and Place, artists will be encouraged to explore how their practice can impact on communities, environments and the physical, social and emotional spaces in between. Breathe developed a project with the local Tea Dancing community and schools in West Bromwich – Dancing with Strangers.

Crossed Wires for Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2006 on Dr Robert’s Magic Bus as part of the Escalator East to Edinburgh.
Whilst in Edinburgh Breathe also performed Will you hold my hand? This is a piece of work was developed to create opportunities for Breathe to meet more strangers. The work placed in public space relies on passers by to engage in a small exchange, hand to hand.

Arts Council England; Research and Development
Breathe were awarded a Grants for the Arts in conjunction with the Escalator programme for artists in the East to support a three month Research & Development period. This time provided Breathe with the opportunity to create a new performance -To(o) Long(?), create a programme of work for young people and redevelop Breathe’s business/organisational infrastructure. Breathe will be working with a producer (Ayla Suveren) and various well established artists from the Live Art field who will act as mentor’s (Sarah Thom, Gob Squad and Leslie Hill, Curious). Breathe were in residence at Colchester Arts Centre and Battersea Arts Centre.

Collaborative experience:

26th - 30th November 2007
Breathe will be hosted the pilot project, Encounters, at the mac, Birmingham.
An intensive week workshop led by Amanda Hadingue of Stan’s Cafe.
A practical exploration of intimate performance, using simple devising techniques, provoking new ideas and focusing on audience interaction. During the week there was a workshop lead by FrenchMottershead and a session led by Dr Natalie Sebanz, a lecturer in psychology from University of Birmingham.
